Ummm... just remembered I have a rather tatty drawing of the tailstock turret described by 'Exactus' in the Model Engineer mag vol.117 (1957).
If anyone fancies making one I could scan the drawing (probably 4 x A4 scans)

The book also contained a full set of working drawings for many extra accessories that one could build for the lathe. The book centered heavily around the Myford Super 7. One of the projects fully described with drawings was a tailstock turret. I never made one but I sure wish I did. If you can obtain this book, it is well worth the effort to have one. Just dont do what I did with mine. I lent it out (to our family doctor and friend) and never got it back. That was over 30 years ago. Never ever lend out this book.

    Kody ,
That book is still available if it 's the one I'm thinking of it's by Richard Sparrey (sp?) I'm sure I've seen it on Ebay from the Engineers Shop.
I have the Ian Bradley book on the Myford and it doesn't have the tail stock
    turret.
Just recently bought JA Radfords and GhThomas' books , a mine field of information and project drawings. Well worth having IMHO if you own a Myford.

I didn't know there was a Radford book. Is it a collection of his old ME articles? What's it called?

go to little machine shop.com tailstock turret tool holder & look under "CHRIS TIPS".
shows idea for making holders for the different sized drill bits for the turret.

Very clever indeed, wouldn't have thought of that!

Thank you calala, that just saved me some money, even though it makes for a bit more work. Great to have all those drills etc ready for the next step.

Have just sent an order off to LMS, ttogether with some other stuff.

Yes some of the articles are from Modlel engineer.from 1967-1971
The book by JA Radford is called "Improvements and Accessories for your Lathe " ISBN 1 85761 105 5.
I got my copy from Chronos in the UK ,along with both G H Thomas' books and Ian Bradleys "Myford Book".
Radford's book doesn't have a tail stock turret plan though.

Finally got around to looking Practical Machinist, not really aimed at us "amateurs" they don't even want you to talk about 9x20 lathes.

Home Shop Machinist is more in that area, but haven't found too much of interest there.

The Yahoo groups have some good info, but it is hard work, looks like something out of the 80s!

So, have you bought your lathe yet? You've had a week to check your bank account you know

um........ no lathe i did buy some digital Mitatoyo verniers yesterday through work man the price of those is not cheap but they are for work and soooooooooo good. ill take them home for when i need them i don't really want to get a second set right now

i found that HMEM was by far the friendliest place on the net and PM well that's more for the pros they are not allowed to talk that much about Asian hobby machines but a lot of them do and there is lots of info there for the hobbyist if you can find it
    happy turning

I just got a copy of LH Sparey's The Amateurs Lathe from my library (through inter-library loan) and although I have only briefly looked through it, I will be buying a copy of that for sure.

It does have quite comprehensive plans of a tailstock turret in it, as well as heaps of other useful projects and information.

    still list this book:

    002752 The Amateur's Lathe by L.H. Sparey, 224 pages, ISBN 0852422881, $25.00

I bought a copy several years ago - I agree it is well worth having.

They also list the Radford book mentioned by Woodlee, which I have not read:

Searched their website, but couldn't find it. Have sent them an enquiry.

    Edit:

Had another look, although a search didn't turn up anything, a browse through his Workshop page shows a listing but no stock.

Not an easy site to find things on.
