    Timber - 57k
Hand tools and Machinery - 157k
    Woodies stuff - 207k

And I did not bother counting the rest.
Shows that we are all part of the same forum but with separate interest areas.
Some of us lap into most areas.

Edit - The name is all part of our history.

A 1/3 of general woodworking........to me thats a lot.......considering the general woodworking section has been open since...well 1999 is the oldest post i can find. The metalworking forum seems to stop earlier this year at the moment and i can't find any archived threads from the metalworking section. Anyone know how old it is?
The point is still the same ....if we don't know we cant help......
At the end of the day we ALL get a free forum, some members a happy enough to put there own time in to be mods. We should be grateful to them and what they do.

    Hi all,
I think this thread should be deleted as it has no real purpose, I personally don't see a need for I am leaving posts here or anywhere else.
I see it many times on other forums and it just clutters the forum and always seems to end up with arguments etc like this one has about wood and metal work.

Lets face it, for getting all the friends and info from this forum, it's not worth leaving over a few posts getting taken down.

If your leaving just leave, delete your account or whatever you want to do, no need to post about it.
I agree with what was said earlier and give it a few days and then decide before doing anything strait away. These things can be sorted out by PMing the mods and asking them why something happened, I will guarantee that 99.9% of the time you will see there point of view and understand, but don't pm strait away while your annoyed, give it a few days.

I got annoyed about a post being deleted a while back, replied while I was annoyed, then found myself apologizing to a mod about it. Sure you can be annoyed about a post being deleted, but thats life. When it comes down to it it's not our personal forum that we own, and we have to follow rules everywhere in life, so here is no different.

Seriously? You get a couple of posts deleted, so you close your account? Boy, talk about a dummy spit.

They sit me for an eye test each time I go, as the sign says something about metal workers and steel in them. I know I have metal in my eye so I tell them, so then I have to be scaned for that before hand.

Funny you say that.....they didn't even ask and i have been in several times to have chips removed......I'm sure the last time i had an MRI (before last week), some 2 or 3 years, they actually looked at my eyes with a magnifier torch thingy first. But my eyes didn't explode so all is well!

I'm an administrator on the Toyota Surf Forum and have been for quite a few years. Believe me, there is not enough time to cater to individual PMs explaining everything you do. If I did, then I would never have time to actually participate on the forum itself, which is what I would rather do. Sometimes we cop a bit of flack for this, but in the end the decisions are made in the interests of the forum in general. Individuals may disagree sometimes. The majority of members usually understand this.

I might add that I was once a member of a Caravan Forum and the guy who ran that was a complete a**hole. I disagreed with him a few times on certain things, so he banned me. He also banned anyone else who did not have the same opinion as he had. Being banned from his forum was actually a blessing. Thankfully there's not many forums that are like his.

We are all here to learn and hopefully show off our work. So how can we learn if we are left in the dark? I have been a moderator, several times, going back before there was the internet in Australia on Fido-net. (snail mail from Cairns to Brisbane was often quicker). I would not do it these day's due to other commitments. But I would like to add the majority of those that have had their posts 'moderated' cannot learn unless they know why.

There are forum trolls these days that will not learn and need just dumping with no respect but I feel that looking at Graxiano's stats, he was no troll and deserves respect, as do the moderators and the forum owner(s).

I don't like to post in threads like this but feel in this case, we are loosing our respect for others mostly due to separation that is the net.

Please let us all keep leaning and teach where we can.

    Strange how this thread changed.

As I see it a member posts items that are objectionable and not in accordance with the forum rules and gets moderated and have posts deleted. Not liking being moderated he has a dummy spit and leaves with a goodbye post.

Then others bemoan that fact and rather then criticize the poster for breaking the rules blame the mods for doing their thankless task to keep the forums running smoothly.

Then these same posters also break the rules by high jacking this thread by not staying on topic so that these posts also ought to be moderated and deleted. To their credit the Mods haven't done so.

Maybe it would be a good idea for everyone involved to reread the faqs and rules about posting rather then critizise when we are moderated for failing to do the right thing.

    Peter.

Btw I have at times been moderated and rather then whining or packing up my ball and bat and leaving I have sent the Mod a pm to say that I willingly accept his moderation.
