I would not be too worried about it... It is part and parcel of being on a forum. Sometimes when a shotgun gets fired unintended targets get hit... Collateral damage I believe is the term...

I can understand why some people feel the need to post messages like this - When I feel like this I usually take 48 hours to cool off and reconsider.
We should all remember that this is a privately run site and the owner can set any rule and take any action he sees fit.
Hope we see you again soon

Hi Graziano,
Seems like I must have missed something here?
Just my opinion, whatever is was, don't react too hastily,
I for one enjoy the perspective and knowledge you bring to the forum, I'm sure plenty of others feel the same. I'd would be a shame if you decided to leave.
Regards
Ray

There's still PM. Even metalmunchr there hasn't censored any of my posts....
Funny world. We have a debate in Federal Parliament and a vote on whether homosexuals can enter into the holy state of matrimony yet mention of the L word here gets a post yanked. I wonder if anyone would care to tell our Federal finance minister that it's an offensive word?
I don't dispute the right of the forum owner & mods to do as they see fit here, I know I would and be totally arbitrary about it, however that doesn't mean I have to respect the mentality behind it. Obey it, sure, but not respect it.
I wonder how long this entire thread will last.

Mods, please don't close Graziano's account and please don't delete his valuable contributions and photos!
Some of us would like him to continue to contribute.
If he offends someone's (owner's or mods') rules, just explain how and why - and if his posts need editing to meet the rules, then please ask him to - not just make them disappear.
There has been occasion where I have have been afforded that courtesy and I was able to 'correct the errors of my ways' (which were not premeditated or maliocious) - and I think Graziano's 'misdemeanors' would have been equally modified to meet the required standard - I suspect.
Some further comments from mods would help. Graziano's contributions were valued by at least this reader.Cheers,
Joe

Just a small point for you to remember. This forum is permitted to be used in schools.
If a sufficient number of words on the Google hit list appear in these forums then we will be banned from the schools.
This means we have to moderate to a extremely benign level.
The orange room was established for all users who wish to be slightly colourful in their language.
We will not pull your posts in there.

OK, David, that helps explain the standard required - and I had no idea that it was accessible to children in schools.
However, to help keep that required standard, 'suspending from public view' a message that pushes the 'questionable word count' into the 'red' or 'blue', and asking the contributor to edit something (maybe while leaving the message count intact by something like a placeholder "currently under review - check back later" message would be much less puzzling to readers and may not offend the contributor enought to wish to leave.
My $0.02's worth. Please consider.Cheers,
Joe

stuff
I had a thread I had started on the PM antique forum, it was closed because it was a ATLAS lathe I was asking about. The moderator closed the thread because the lathe isn't a industrial spec. lathe. Talk about being pedantic , it was a ridiculous state of affairs , but you cannot argue with them as this would make things even worse .
On another occassion my post , on a UK antique radio forum was pulled because of , quote " strange puntuation ". I PM'd the moderator and gave him a whole barrage of aussie swear words . No doubt , he is a stuffy pommy who had gone to a public school , he didn't like my puntuation

This is a METALWORK forum. On the WWF there are many forums for all sorts of topics, even those that are a bit offensive for some. They are kept in an appropriate place called the Orange Room where Google spiders will not detect them. The removal of the words, which were off topic, was done to remove the risk of the Woodwork Forums being blacklisted from educational sites. We do not know exactly how Google categorises sites but it seems that a grouping of words in a certain density causes a change. In the past the WWF was blocked temporarily from schools for precisely this reason.
Please note that some of the posts were removed, not because of what they said, but simply because they quoted other posts that were removed. The mods try to keep with the intent of the rules but can never satisfy everyone. Some say we do too much, others too little
Finally, the forum rules are pretty clear about what is and is not allowed, part of them is posted below and is hyper-linked to the complete post for those who would like to read what they agreed to when they joined.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use these Forums to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violates any law. Sometimes posts are edited. However, once you have multiple responses underway in a thread it becomes a complete mess. You stop, say, four posts and ask people to edit them. The first poster changes his but now the second post is referring to something that is now gone. Same with the third and fourth posts, it is just not manageable, sorry. Also, mods are not watching every thread, though we try to. Usually a post is reported and we then have a look at the thread. You also have problems with people who do not read their messages, log off for days etc. This leaves the posts invisible but the responses visible, then people ask why and it gets messy again.
I could go on but I hope you can see what happens. This is also why a members account is never deleted, it creates holes in threads all over the place and they no longer make sense. The only accounts fully removed belong to spammers. I hope this clarifies it a bit for you.
