    Stuart,

I've copied this from a thread I started about a CTC face mill....

"The first cut was 0.5mm deep with a spindle speed of 100 rpm and a feed rate of 17mm/min. A virtually flawless finish. The next cut was at 160 rpm with a feed of 29mm/min. The final cut was at 860 rpm and 29mm/min feed.. Slow and steady wins the day."

The finish on the "thingo" was acheived at 160 rpm and 29mm/min. Could be better but not much point.

Schaublin have the universal table with the half slot facing the rear in their catalog illustrations. The additional slot in that location would enable the mounting of workpieces closer to the rear most position of the vertical spindle and to the horizontal spindle nose. The table pivots and swings in three axes. The " half slot" enables greater partial rotation of the table.

I have left the table in the position it was in when I bought the mill because I have not needed to do any swivelling.

    Bob.

I remember seeing one of those on ebay. Very nice looking machine.
    Thanks

Default Arrand boring bar - update

I left out a detail in the drawing of the 1 1/4" boring bar. It's the flat on the insert that goes in the hole in the bar. I replaced the drawing in the original message posted yesterday.

Yes indeed. I think a fine threaded grubscrew pushing on the back of a HSS bit might be a good alternative.
