Hi Guys,

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to visit "Blists Hill" a museum town near Ironbridge, Telford. Unfortunately the weather was poor, it even snowed for a short while. This meant that I wasn't able to get around the whole site. I did take a lot of pictures though. There is something here in this museum to interest just about everybody.

There are two suggested trails that are designed to allow you to see the whole town. I photographed them and placed them here so you can see the different areas.

The entrance to the town is at the lower left of the pictures.

Quite literally the very first thing you see when coming through the entrance, is the goods station, along with half a dozen wagons stood in front of it and on the left two "Tar Boilers".

Turning round to look back this saddle tank locomotive is parked under the roof overhang. The picture of the inside of the cab is the best I could do without trying to scale the fence.

Directly opposite the goods station is the town notice board.

Just a little further down the street is "Jack Crabtree's" bicycle shop.

This picture shows some of the bicycles on display in there, along with this rather nice "Penny Farthing" bicycle. Unfortunately with what looks like a hand powered drill press hiding the pedals.

Moving further up the street there are two more shops, then a road. On the other side is the pub, which sadly was closed. However the Chemists shop proved quite interesting.

There was every medicine and concoction known to man at that period, around 1900, in there. They were also selling soap ! Long 18 inch bars of "Fairy" and "Carbolic" soap. You bought it by weight and they simply cut a half pound or pound off the end for you. At 3 pence a pound it sounds quite cheap until you realise that was the price in 1900.

I spotted this etched door window in the Chemists shop ! It leads into a dental surgery.

Complete with chair and drill. Notice the bottle of Chloroform on the table next to the chair, the bottle with the cloth over the stopper.
From the look of the arms on that chair, its been well used.

I'll post more later.
