Default Never thought it would happen to me

Well I dodged a bullet today seeing as things could have been a whole lot worse than what it was. I was rushing things and didn't have my mind on the job at hand and didnt have the blade guard fully over the blades and my hand slipped and went straight down onto the blades. Yes I know what I've done wrong as the scenario has played over in my mind for the last 8hrs. Just posting this as a warning to others to not think ahead and just focus on what you are doing and make sure that you use all the safety equipment provided/available and not to rush.

That looks very painful but not too deep; were your reactions quick enough to save you from tendon damage?

I hope you fully recover and are able to return to woodworking before too long

No tendon damage thankfully but had to get a few stitches near the thumb area. Really annoyed as she who must be obeyed has banned me from the garage for a week at least lol

Certainly looks nasty .... a second shock for me as I had only just seen the image and the video on Facebook. Fortunately it doesn't look too deep, well deep enough but could be much worse.

Some days, I just don't go into the shed. Not in the right head space. This is when silly mistakes get made. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

I would not wish an injury like that on anyone. We all think it can't happen to us. Thanks for posting the picture as a timely reminder to us all how dangerous our hobby can be if we cut corners on safety. Hopefully you will make a full recovery.

    Cheers

Nasty! I hope you heal fast.

The one thing we need to be constantly reminded about is how complacent we tend to get with familiar tasks. The she'll be right it will one take a few seconds - not worth the trouble of changing the setup, catches us out all to often.

Thanks for sharing your pain for our gain.

Ps I had a similar close call with a jointer a while back, lost my balance (vertigo issues) and put my hand where it shouldn't go.

When I was a Little Tacker (and being a boy) Mum says that I would look at dangerous things with my hands behind my back....so they wouldn't get into trouble

Thats a nasty would that will keep reminding you of that until it is fully healed and can function normally again
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

Thanks for reminding us all that can happen, when rushing and not concentrating 100% on that blade.

This stuff will always happen as we are human, and its easy to get distracted,

I hope your hand heals up and there are no long term issues from it.
