Yes - sad alright. He was a true gentleman - always helpful, always polite, always enthusiastic. The ideal embodiment of the true spirit of Woodworking - an international "language" in itself that is understood in most countries, and has helped in its way to keep barriers down...

Rest In Peace Niki. We hope you've truly found "Shalom" in the Promised Land...

I had not seen that thanks for posting

also for the UKforums list I am going to e busy for the next few days so the other one's I'll have to find will take a while.

Its the photo's that need the preservation as Niki stored them elsewhere these could soon be lost due to inactivity or if he paid for it.

Ray

EDIT 9.23am Only difference would be the comments and responses made on each forum which could/would envoke new ideas and thoughts.

Just to let you all know, Niki's images here on the forum will be saved and uploaded directly to the forum's server over the next few weeks in case we lose any, due to inactivity on the Photobucket account.

What a bugger.

- here was a bloke who appeared to get the world's greatest pleasure out of sharing an original idea or offering suggestions as to how a jig/process could be improved.

Definitely one of the "Givers" of this world - Niki, your ideas, comments, thoughts will certainly be missed.

My condolences to the family.

I haven't built any of Niki's jigs, but I have admired the creativity and workmanship he put into them, and the enthusiasm with which he displayed and described them, as well as the simplicity of a lot of them.

Sad news indeed!! My condolences to his family. I've always enjoyed the information and pics that Nikki always put into his posts, he seemed to always come up with some great ideas and willing to offer advice when required.

Always sad to lose anyone, but more so if popular and a contributor.

What a shame we all have to go sometime, in Niki's case it was far too soon. I always enjoyed his posts and insights into any problems he encountered.
RIP mate.

Ray who is a ukworkshop member as well as this forum (think Triton) posted this on the uk forum

Yes, links to all the comments from all the forums have been sent to Regina, who has been very touched by them.

Here is a link to another forum with loads of Niki's jigs - some of which you might not have seen before.

That fantastic news haven't been to UKforum for a bit so will have to go visit and have a read.

Thanks for the heads up.

Apologies in advance for dragging up an old thread, but I figured the folks here might be interested. (And Mods please feel free to move this if you think it should be in a separate thread.)

I'm Vaughn McMillan, a woodworker (woodturner, primarily) and a technical writer and editor. Although I don't recall posting here before, I've peeked in for several years. Some of you may know me from other woodworking forums. I'm one of the founders of the Family Woodworking forums and one of the Admins there. Like many of you, I was an online friend and admirer of Niki's.

Niki's widow Regina has asked me to help her on a book project. We have begun gathering and cataloging all of Niki's tutorial posts from all the forums he posted to, and plan to publish them in paperback book form as a tribute to his work. It is Regina's intent to create a permanent and tangible record of Niki's ingenuity, and make it available (most likely via Amazon so it can be distributed worldwide) at an affordable cost to as many people as possible. Her motive is to share and honor, not profit. Regina has no book publishing experience, so when I mentioned to her that I do, she asked me to help. For the record, my only payment will be the knowledge that I'm helping to honor a man who selflessly helped thousands of other woodworkers.

As you likely know, Niki participated in quite a few forums around the world. Although he often posted the same pictures and tutorials on different sites, the comments and questions that followed those posts differed from site to site, and those discussions often added details or clarity to Niki's original post. Gathering all of those posts is going to be a formidable task. (Due to copyright and content ownership issues, we don't plan to include quoted posts from others, but we may decide to summarize specific questions and include Niki's answers in the book.)

I am mentioning this project to you, since we could use some help gathering questions and comments regarding Niki's posts here at Woodwork Forums. I'm looking for someone who has the time and ability to extract Niki's threads (including the comments) from the forums here and put them into consolidated files (Word documents, preferably). We're mostly interested in the text, since the photos were the same from forum to forum.

If you can help, please send me a message at book [at] workingwoods.com. If you can't help, I understand and appreciate your time.

Thanks in advance, and if you have any bright ideas that might help us or the book, please don't hesitate to let me know.

All the best -

- Vaughn McMillan

BTW, Regina still checks in on the many forums Niki frequented, and she truly appreciates the outpouring of support shown by the woodworking community worldwide. She's the person who directed me to this forum.
