Default 2 more pens and new challenges

    Hi Everyone,
Rainy day so I challenged myself, and turned up these two.
The Seirra is acrylic and the slimline is an exercise in inserts and finish. Really happy with the gloss on both. I micromeshed the acrylic to 12000 and I applied 10 coats of Cedar oil and thin CA alternately before micromeshing. Why Cedar oil? I found it lurking in the cupboard. This is a method I had seen George from WWGOA use though he was using linseed oil and CA alternately. Not ready for the Celtic knot yet but working towards it. I can feel the heat produced by the CA glue and now, understand why it is virtually instant.
    Cheers,
    Mac

    Hi Gab,
As my blanks are 25mm square, I just cut slots at 30 degrees to a depth of 90% of thickness of blank with the table saw. Then I cut a slice off the end of another blank and sanded for a reasonable fit before gluing in. By the time you have turned it down you are back into solid timber and this is the result. It also means you retain grain alignment and no clamps required. Nice when such a simple system produces such a nice result. Ugly duckling into beautiful swan stuff.
    Cheers,
    Mac
