All of the pens I have seen in this thread are really beautiful. I have sent Rum Pig his swap and it is now in the hands of the USPS. He sent me a note saying he will post mine shortly. Thanks to Idubia for putting this swap together.

2010 Australia Day Pen Swap
When I came home from job at tuesday I found a package from Toolcrasy (Steve) in my mailbox.
The content of the box was a Perfect Fit Convertible Pen wrapped in Wild Lilac + 4 penblanks, and they was: Desert Ironwood, Madrone Burl, Red Elm burl and Figured Mesquite. All this blanks are new for me, and I am looking forward to use them.
Steve, it was a very nice pen you sent me - I like it very well.

I have FINALLY getten around to taking a picture of the great Pen that Idubia sent to me.
It is a wonderful pen made from Elk Horn.
These pictures really DO NOT do this great pen justice.
Every one at work are so envious of the two pens I recieved in this pen swap.
I am still waiting for Aussie post and their US counterparts to deliver my Pen to Idubia. Increadable how it took only a few days for my pen to get to Norway but still waiting for the AUS/US postal service to do their bit.
I also got some really nice blanks from Idubia as well but I forgot to bring them into work. D'Oh!!!!

Glad ya like it
I'm very happy to hear you like the pen. I tried to make one and the first one split badly down the middle during turning. This is the second generation of the same pen using a new blank. Fortunately I brought back a large pile of antler from my trip to Wyoming. (No I did not shoot the deer or elk.) I will be posting the pen as soon as I get it here. I check the post everyday in gleeful anticipation. This is definitely like Christmas (or in my case, my birthday).
veryone is doing some really fine work on their pens. Thanks all for putting in such great efforts to ake this a resounding success.

I want to thank timberbits for the absolutely lovely pen and matching letter opener Igot from him a couple or so weeks ago. I finally got his pen into the mail today, so he should have it in a week or ten days, as it is going Priority Mail from the States. I haven't taken pictures of the pen and letter opener that he sent, as I have been extremely busy doing a lot of other stuff. Hubby and I are leaving tomorrow on a long vacation, so I will try to remember to take pictures and post them when we get back. In the meantime, thanks for allowing me to be a part of this swap. Simomatra, you do rock!!!

I have received my pen from Handyrn it is a type of Sierra with Kentucky coffee wood.
Attachment 132368Attachment 132369
I really like this pen it will be going straight into my personal collection. Handyrn Also kindly gave me some blanks witch I have not taken a photo of but there was a large collection including things like Buckeye burl, big leaf maple, apple and another 2 witch have been taken off me one is from a red wine barrel so SWMBO has laid claims to that one and the second was a Red acrylic with white in it my 2 1/2 year old son said that is mine it is beautiful and decided he could not live without it and even slept with it the first night. So I have decided that will be for his first pen when I can get it back.
I wish to thank Handyrn for her beautiful pen and patience as I had a lot of trouble making her pen.
I also wish tank everyone who was involved in making this swap possibleCheers Rum Pig

Just a gentle reminder to all participants.
There is only 9 days for the swaps to be completed as per the rules below
If you can not complete the swap on time please do not register as this is unfair to others.
This is open to all our overseas friends so if you are interested in swapping OS make a tag OS beside your name. If you want to just stay domestic put DOM beside your name. Last year it was all international so lets try to go that way again. We also have lots of new OS members here that can also spread the word.
It is open to turners from novices upwards. Everyone is welcome. The more the better.
Happy turning
Basic rules when the swap draw is made contact your partner, make a pen and send it post haste, blanks can be exchanged also if desired that's between you and your partner. The swap will be open to all styles of pens. All swaps to be completed by 31st March 2010

It's been over a week now since I received my package from Mr Vic and between work and family obligations I've been very slack in getting some pictures posted.
Attached are the pictures (I make a fairly poor photographer sorry) of my received pen and blanks from Mr Vic. Mr Vic has certainly done great job. The pen is a Satin Navigator Rollerball. It has been made with Osage Orange, malachite Tru-Stone and Antler with a CA finish. The attention to detail that Mr Vic puts into his pens has inspired me - the centre ring has been removed and turned from Osage Orange and the plug on the end of the cap has been removed and replaced with ? antler with my initials.
Also enclosed were several pen blanks - buckeye burl, Juniper, Osage Orange, Apricot and a piece of composite decking. There was also a set of finishing bushing which I am looking forward to trying out.
Thank you Mr Vic my first Pen Swap has been an enjoyable one.
Cheers,
Todd

swap completed
Hi guys,
I received this package from my swap partner Alex (altaciii on the forums) a couple of weeks ago but thought it prudent to wait until he received mine before I posted.
It is made of Texas Ebony and White Tailed Deer antler, with thin strips of metal seperating the two materials and providing contrast.
It is, without a doubt, one of the nicest pens I've ever seen and had the pleasure of holding.
Alex was also kind enough to send me some blanks, which I look forward to using
Thanks to you Alex, and for your kind words on IAP. Apologies once again for the amount of time it took to send you the pen, and I am still working on those blanks to send you (as soon as I can convince Australia Post that it isn't a 'prohibited material')
Keir"That's impossible. Nobody can give more than 100%. By definition that is the most anyone can give"

Due to the SkipRat nature of my pen I've had pleeeenty of hiccups and am currently waiting for some drill bits to get back from the sharpeners so I can continue the pen.

I finally took some time to photo the pen I received form Řistein. It is a closed end Baron out of spalted Rhododendron out of his own yard. The blanks he says are from his and his neighbors yards. But, with this I will have to admit something. When I received his pen, it had a very well done semi gloss CA finish on it. But, I noticed that a knot was splitting and it was also cracking near the nib. I didn't want to loose the pen, so I disassembled it and put a little more CA on it to seal the cracks. I didn't want to do this. But, I thought it better. I'm not sure how he got such a nice semi gloss finish. So I just finished with my usual gloss. Sorry Řistein, your pen was beautiful without me messing with it.
