3 new pens for charity auction
G'day Y'all,
As you all already know, I am quite taken with your wood. The post by Wild Dingo referring to how much we Americans like the Aussie wood has really been stuck in my mind. This morning at work, I found out that one of my co-workers has an aunt who was recently diagnosed with cancer. They are having a silent auction this Saturday to raise funds for her treatment (this is by no means a solicitation for donations). It occurred to me to make a few pens to donate. I figured what better wood to use than the best in the world. I made the offer and he was so excited. Please excuse the quality of the pics....I know...I suck at photography lol.

All of them are nice and I think should invoke some good bids for the cause.
God bless you for your efforts in this!

Have to say the pen crafting is better than the photography Rick You let Gina do the photos mate. You have a good transition for parts to barrels and the finish is fine as well. They will command a good price at the auction. Very nice mate.

Thank you all for the compliments. I also appreciate the well wishes, and will pass them on. It was a treat for me not only for being able to help somebody out, but it gave me an excuse to dip into the good blanks and play.
I have to shamefully admit, I get a kick out of showing off the pens I make out of the Aussie wood. Nobody here has ever seen anything like it. I also never cease to be amazed by the character of the wood.
Darren,
I know, I know....I suck at photography, and I really did want to get quality pics of these pens, however, it was getting late last night when I got them finished, and decided that the price for waking Gina up to get good pics was probably not worth it .
Cheers,
Rick

So what you are saying is that you afraid of the bruises that you will get from Gina Come on if I can get some from Natasha . Try for a light grey for a back ground, set the camera to macro and use a tripod mate. Halh press the shutter button let it focus and press all the way. I use Picasa 2 it is free to use, will find it through Google. It is quick and simple to use, just the way I like it.
All the best to the family and to all things good, happy thoughts, I know mate, thanks. Will reply a little later.

I just wanted to thank all of you for your compliments and kind wishes. I was told this morning that the auction went extremely well. He said that everybody was infatuated with the Aussie wood, and those that won the pens were thrilled.
If it weren't for you all, and what you do, I would have never thought of donating pens to charity, so I thank you.
Cheers,
Rick
