Alternative Ivory Cigar
I haven't posted pictures before, so hopefully this works.
Cigar pen in Alternative Ivory Resin with Black Titanium Hardware. One of several resins from the UK that I have added to my web-site. I'll post others later. Comments welcome.

Very pretty, they would make great wedding pens with the horn as the male section.

That's beautiful. I like everything about it. I purchased a pair of those blanks a while back but haven't gotten the courage to mess one up yet. Maybe you can tell me - how do they drill and how do they turn? Any special precautions that need to be followed? Is heat an issue? And what did you finish it with? Just fine polish?
Hey NewLondon. I was drinking coffee when I read your comment. You owe me a new monitor.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Thanks for the comments. Cisco, they turn and finish quite easily. The fact that they start out as a rod rather than a square makes it a lot easier. Heat is an issue with any resin or acrylic blanks and drilling needs to be done slowly, and preferably using water to cool the bit. These "alternatives" are a polyester resin rather than an acrylic and so don't feel as "brittle".
If you go to my web-site, in the area where I've got these blanks for sale, there is a page of turning tips for resins and acrylics. Plenty of text at the moment, but I intend to add some images at a later stage.
