First Amboynia Burl
This is my first go at Amboynia Burl, the blank came from Woodenink, thank you Amos.
Pen was polished up to 12000 MM after 10 coats of WOP. Then Brasso and car polish.
The burl was quite fragile but lots of CA stabilized it.
The timber in the first picture is ancient Kauri my son has given me
This is the last one till after Christmas

Here it is in its new presentation box. I hope to make this my standard box for higher end pens.

Very spiff Sam, nice combination of box and pen.
Did you make the box yourself?

Sam
Liked the pen and the box. The box looks like it would accomodate several pens.
Can not ever dislike Amboyna it has a lot of magic in the grain, stirs the creative feelings. Normally it is lightish in weight and easy to turn and gain a high finish.
The variations in colour show in your pen very well.
Trust the New Year brings the best for you and Pat love from Peter and Wilma Xmas 08.

That one's a beauty for sure, Sam. One of my favorite kits too. One of my everyday pens is an amboyna burl Statesman fountain pen. Love the look of it resting in that box too.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Hi Sam, Merry Christmas.
What a fabulous looking pen. A great pen begins and ends with the timber. Great to see good timber being put to good use.
