This not an Americana
This a Retro Pen kit that I re-retrofied it. I joined the tubes with the joiner and turned it down to the same size as the tubes. Wanted to do something different for my first pen after i got my lathe up and running again. Some who know the lines I like to turn, will fall off their computer chairs when they see it. The timber used is 1 of about 70 spalted mango blanks I have cut, this is my second lot that I have done. The design is one that a good friend does State side, so this is my Billy Bumps pen to honor him and our friendship. see what you think.

Darren gotcha, see where your coming from shape to suit horses for courses like the spalting and the spread cotton reel shape or matching shoulders and I will venture to say it didnt hurt a bit.Just chuckling (turn always B to B)
See where you are coming from old mate, your friend in the Us will be proud.
Regards Peter

Nice job with that one, Darren. Imaginative turning and a very flashy piece of timber.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Nice one Darren, I just made my first Retro and thought about what you have done can't see any need for the join in the middle I think your new model is the way to go.
I am sure Billy will be pleased with your version of his famous bumps

Darren,
I am shocked and amazed. I was starting to think that you were allergic to any kind of variation to a flat line Just kidding. That is a terrific looking pen (like I am really surprised). The wood does resemble antler quite a bit. Nicely done.

Matt true i could buy an American but the retro is a bit cheaper in price and it dosen't take any time to machine it down on the lathe.
