    Default An Amos Copy

I have had a go at Woodenink technique at a painted yellow pen for a lady that loves the colour yellow.

I have done this on a fiddleback Beech blank. The grain doesn't stand out on it though.

This is a fiddly process and followed Amos's instructions. It has about six coats of CA and about four coats of yellow paint.

I did it in a Black Slimline kit that DJ kindly let me have.

I don't think it is any where as good as Amos's pen. This was my first attempt at a CA finish. Much more fiddly than EEE and Shellawax but possibly more durable.

Some one maybe able to tell me how long to leave between CA coats.

Hello Bazza, still looks good, between coats of CA, depends if you use Accelerator, with accelerator it is a matter of moments, When I use Thin CA I just put the heater at it for 15 seconds and it is done, in warm weather you may not even need that, leave a minute and thin CA is dry, thicker CA give more time. Bazza that is a good go at colouring and CA finishing. With CA finishing there are a few variables, what you use to apply the CA with, how much CA you put on and the temperature. I use Viva paper towel with the lathe running at it's lowest speed, if you can get the blue workshop towel, even better. With the amount of CA I use, it is enough to coat one half of the blank when I do the second half the first has dried. With the cooler weather it takes a bit longer to go off, maybe 10 seconds. Keep at it mate you are doing fine.

Your pen looks great Bazza! now with your CA finish if you get the right paper towel it will help you out a'lot then just try different ways till your happy with it,if you put it on too thick take it off with flat scraper much faster than sand paper.
    Robyn CA is super glue.
