the longest tube i have is the long click and its only 115ish
could yours be a length that you just chop bits off for the required length, i think some one was making them in 10" long tubes at one stageNo Result Without Effort

Penn State Industries sell an 8mm circuit board blank about that length. https://www.pennstateind.com/store/WXCB8R.html.
One of our club members bought some but had problems with the blank splitting when he pressed the pen together. I don't remember what kit he used but the Penn State Industries site may have some details on the kits.

Thanks fellas. I looked up the Penn state site but of little help.
Appears there is a tech pen kit that suits the blank.
What other kits does anyone know of that takes an 8mm tube??
Many thanks.
BIG PS. Just remeasured tube it is 9mm diameter. I have a pair of bushes 9mm x 12mm. Does this ring any bells?? Thanks all.

Hi artme,
I just went to the Timberbit.com web site and if you click on the brass tubes for various pen kits, it will show the drill size for the hole in the blank for that tube. Deducting twice the wall thickness should give you a tube inside diameter give or take. I don't own a calliper yet so cannot be of any addition help there. I bought my printed circuit board blank already set up on a Seirra tube.
I have done Slimline, Seirra, Bolt Action, Lucida and Elegant Beauty and the dimension you are after is not the first or second, but could be one of the others just not sure which.
Cheers,
Mac

I might be wrong (and usually am), but I think these were made for a sierra. I have some also and when I purchased they were for a sierra kit.

The sierra has been suggested but the blank would need to be cut to suit - in fact it would be possible to get two sierras
from this blank. I don't really want cut the blank if I can avoid it. There are two reasons, the first being that there is a
risk of damage ( despite obvious care taken ) and secondly I would prefer to keep a long blank to better display the circuit.
All that being said I might have to swallow some pide and run the risk of making a couple of sierras,
Thanks for the input fumbler. Much appreciated.

Perhaps it's time to stretch your legs and make it into a custom. Turn a nib, finial and cap of aluminium or your favourite plastic for the cap if you don't want metal to metal threads. Make it for your favourite ballpoint or roller ball refill. Marla has a pen just like that somewhere in the house made by an American pen turner with one of her longer feather blanks.
Just occurred to me that you could skip the cap and threads by making it a desk pen with the stand having a circuit board as part of it. The nib and cap could be of plastic pressed into the barrel. Lots of possibilities if you let your imagination go.

I may be onto something if I can get the measurements for a Dayacom Longwood click set of bushings. Can't find these bush sizes anywhere.
I like the suggestion of a custom pen, or desk pen. My big obstacle there is the lack of a metal lathe.
Whether I can turn some plastic bits is athought, but i prefer metal nibs and caps.

IAP Library has a bushing and tube size chart and they have an iPhone app too. A couple of their members are looking into doing it for the Android.
Both ends are the same. The bushing is 0.444" and 0.342". The dimensions are for the one William Wood-Write sells.
You can turn aluminium on a wood lathe. The pen Marla has was made on a wood lathe. Later I'll see if I can find it and post a picture.

Here are a couple pictures hastily taken. The tube is about 4" long.

Dumbkopff!!
ll this angst and I have just realized that I put the wrong measurement for the inside diameter of the tube.
IT IS 9mm not 8mm.!!!
Does this make it easier for help to come my way????

That puts it in the range of 3/8" drill size which would be a Longwood click I linked earlier or the Executive Clicker that Timberbits sell.
Disclaimer: My wife Marla sells pen blanks to both companies.
