    Default Bolt Action Pen

I found a piece of yew to go with the pen because Old bows were made from it and the pen being bullet shaped refers to modern weaponry so you could call it "Past and Present"

    Default Good Combination

    Hi
Youve got the right combination. I've done a few of the same pen but have been struggling to find the right timber - pen combo. The first was tiger myrtle .. Too dark .. And then I tried a few acrylics ... Good result but I really wanted timber ..

Where can I get Yew ? I'm in Qld ?

Not much figured Yew available here in Aus Randal, but plenty of other light coloured figured timbers available

Thank you all. Luckily we have plenty of yew here yesterday a friend turned up with a 14" diameter and 1 1/2" thick piece with some lovely grain and said could I make something from it.
I also have used Antler as I get a free supply from the local Zoo another friend works there.
Some one gave me this kit to try it was just a case of trying to find a wood that would match the dark gunmetal colour and a darker wood just did not look right in my eyes
I have had a good week with different people turning up with woodturning gifts not something that happens a lot but much appriciated

I was given this one to try. But I know of two suppliers one is PSI in America and the other is your side of the world from Timberbits.

A lot of Yew including blank sizes is available on ebay, however, you will have to have it posted from England.
