Penturner turned arsonist? Gab, that's an amazing effect and I can understand the Creativity award. The only ones I have ever considered burning were the duds (lots of them early on) and they wouldn't have looked like yours. Nice work, and another fine example of thinking outside the box!

I think you have achieved your goal with the effect. I can’t say they are pens that I would like to use, I think they have a depressing feel about them. I am not trying to detract from them, just saying that the look might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but then on the other hand there will be people that absolutely love the look.
Well done getting the award, it’s well deserved.

the judges were a bit like my sons referee at soccer last sat, where he made a break down the right hand side, then made a beautiful pass to his right forward, who then had a clear run at goals, until the whistle blew and they were called for offside!!??. Yet sideline judges flag was down, the ref was so old, slow and that far away, there was no way that he could've determined that they were offside. My point being, they were wrong and you were robbed!!

I' sure there are few here that think they are a higher standard than the award says. Top job.

Brad - I totally get what you're saying and that's probably why I've already pulled one if them apart to use the kit elsewhere.... They are quite dark and not 'beautiful' so certainly not a go-to for writing.....

I do have a few other ideas floating around in my noggin - hopefully some others will come to fruition ...

I hope my post didn’t come across as being too negative Gabriel, it wasn’t intended to be.
The pens have impact, they achieve their purpose .
I think they have crossed over to a form of art.
Sort of like some photos I can recall viewing, they are intended as art, but they shock or sadden the viewer, as they were intended to do by the photographer.
Give me a nice landscape, or an interesting street shot anyday, but I still respect the sad ones.

No negative at all mate - it's an idea I had been thinking about for quite a while and was happy to be able to pull it off. I like the idea if playing with fire/charcoal and this was my first real attempt.

It's like music - such a personal thing but you still have to respect the Madonna, prince, Kylie, Beiber (REALLY!!!) As much as the zeppelin, Queen, genesis, Willie Nelson, Keith Urban and the like as they are all Masters of their craft. They may not appeal to your tastes but you can see their passion and devotion to their craft.....

As one that was an aircraft mechanic on fire bombers once I think you did a really good job.

I think it would be a great style of pen to give someone that loves to barbecue.
