CA/BLO finish
hello everyone
thought i would give the ca/blo finish a try
rather than my usual just CA finish
iv looked at a couple of you tube movies
1 puts the blo on first
the other puts the ca on first
1 used thin CA the other used medium CA
my question is, what the popular conceneis here
any traps to watch out for
prefered lathe speed
do i use the same piece of paper towel or what i am using atm, dunny scrub
or a fresh piece each time
i found a tutorial the Fred had posted but it appears to have died
any feed back would be gratly appreciated
Cheers Tony

I tried CA/BLO years ago, I just couldn't get a satisfactory finish with it, so went back to straight CA.

Brad
what was the problem you encountered?

I couldn't seem to get a good buildup of CA on the blank, most of it seemed to dry on the paper pad. Also didn't seem to be as glossy as straight CA.
Maybe it was the way I was doing, I was just starting out with CA at the time, and was trying to find what worked for me. I was also having trouble with straight CA back then too, but eventually got it sorted.Brad.
