Default Would You Call This Segmented???

Another play on Worthless Wood, Aluminum and Watch Parts

This time i sandwiched a piece of West Australian Jarrah between 2 Red Mallee Burl edges, not sure if this is classified as segmented or not

i have also included a picture of the blank precast

Let me know what your thoughts are

    C&C welcome

Yes, I'd call that segmented. And I'd also call it "Very Cool". I think it's the best looking mecha blank pen you've made yet, and you've made some good ones.

I am sorry I would not call it segmented. Not to my taste but i am sure others will find the work timely. There was some work involved in that blank for sure. Thanks for showing.

You can call it what you like, but I would call it very nice.

I like what you have done, nice creativity, similar to another piece you created.

I like to see more of the wood with only the smallest amount of the wheels showing. Not sure how to describe it?

I have not tried casting and I am in no way setup to try casting so what I am about to suggest might not even be possible, so feel free to shoot this down. One layer of the gears or part there off, broken piece of wood with a crack /hole over the top of the gears. Then cast blank. Turned on the lathe exposing the gear embedded in the wood. The gear would need to be seen through the casting so a different contrasting colour to the foundation colour might be needed.

Happy to hear what your thoughts are on this.

Ahh! Mik ! you are beginning to remind me of "Mr Magoo" if you recall the punch line hehe. I suppose for the "purists" you could say it's random, or free radical segmenting hehe, Personally I think it is in a class of its own ,and top of that class Cheers ~ John

thanks for all the feedback guys

JT - i appreciate that you took the TIME to let me know your thoughts, i encourage all feedback good and bad

Christos - i think i know what you are trying to create... not sure if its possible, i am sure it would be heavily time consuming and this blank took more time than i care to admit to

John - i remember Mr Magoo but for the life of me i can't remember much more than that... come on don't leave us hanging

i am in 2 minds, segmented or not, it's really only 3 bits of wood stuck together... damn just had a new idea, a celtic knot without the main part (that doesn't sound right but i am sure you know what i mean), now to work out how to do it..... i can feel a migraine coming already

thanks again for the all the feedback
