carbon fibre bolt action pen
Hi All,
I've been a metalworker for a few years and lately I've had a crack at making pens for family and friends. My first couple were very clunky aluminium pens with no retraction or cap. Then I made a couple of titanium pens and flame coloured them. Again not retractable and no cap, so purely desk pens.
Here's my first bolt action pen. It's made from 10mm OD carbon fibre tube and aluminium. Future versions will be made from titanium tube and solid titanium for the other parts. The CF looks great and is super light, but I don't think the small protrusion where the slot changes direction is going to last. The stainless steel cap screw in the exploded photo has been replaced with a custom made Ti bolt (visible in the picture of the assembled pen).
I need to work out how to make titanium pocket clips and the best way to attach them to the pen. Titanium is a nightmare to tap threads into.

nice! working with metal is a whole different skill. Haven't tried it but I imagine not nearly as forgiving as wood
