I knew I was going to like that one before I saw it. Very nice. What is the third picture of?
Cheers,

Hi Darren,
Lovely stuff mate, but have you tried it on the diagonal cut, I know
it is not always possible depending on size etc, but the effect is
worth it.
cheers Mick

Mick I only had 2 pieces and I cut one with the grain and one across, may be getting some more so i will cut some at the 45. Have a log of Hairy Oak sitting on the workshop floor at the moment and have run into people that use to deliver seedlings where I work and their father has a property out west and I mention about Hairy Oak, they rang him and he has some dry stuff but he went out and cut a tree of it down for me They go out in October so I will have a part seasoned Hairy Oak tree. So it will get the cross and 45 treatment for sure

Hi again Darren, isnt it strange the way we keep acquiring supplies,
you just never know when your dropping a word in the right ear and
what/where it can lead. By the way I just glued some tubes in a
couple of hairy oak blanks tonight, just straight cut. I have done
a few cross cut and keep meaning to cut some diagonal, maybe
tomorrow.

I know a guy in Childers that gets a fair bit of it and he gave me enough for 6 Sierra blanks and I have another mate I know that has a place there as well and has it stacked from floor to the top of a garage but he won't give me his address, he always comes to Bundy.
Well this is the best I just got a parcel from the States from a guy who I don't know that liked my Ambrosia Maple Cigar pen I had done and he mentioned that he had 70 board feet of the stuff. I sent a pm to see if he wanted to trade. He said yes and I am sending him Aussie Timbers. I have 31 cross cut Ambrosia Maple pen blanks and the beautiful part is that I have 30 matching pairs for roller/fountain pen sets. I know that I have a package for WA and one for Brisbane to get away as well. You don't need organised pen swaps to obtain brilliant timbers.

Amos it wasn't too bad to turn, like all cross cut timbers a sharp skew and a light touch. Even with cros cut timber you will find that it will cut better in one direction than the other.
Stirlo thanks mate, very smooth with the hat

I'll be the salmon and swim against the flow ... I think I prefer beefwood with the grain to show it's unusual grain ( shrug) but still, nice looking pens!
- interested to see what 45º does.
