    Default X-Cut Cedar

G'day everyone. I actually had a bit of shed time today, so I turned a couple of Elegant Beauties (Australiana Series from Timberbits) dressed in X-Cut Cedar, kindly sent to me by Seriola. Gee the grain really pops when hit with the CA & polished. Did 18 coats of CA then skipped the 1st 3 MM grades, and then Brasso'd + Maguires Speed Glaze. So damn shiny it was hard to get a decent pic of the X-Cut Cedar grain pattern. Anyway, hope you like em

Your usual top quality finish. I bet you used Mitrefix as you wouldn't have been game to experiment on those nice ones.

Being a bit of of tight #### like David, I really wish I could get the hang of Glen 20, but to be honest, I don' mind paying for a product that is consistent and reliable in use, and gives quality results every time. Anyway, I prefer the smell of MitreFix over Glen20 any day.

Well done Pariss. That is fine pair of pens. Like the finish, very pleasing to the eye. Rekon in real life they would be even better.

They are very nice and should be very popular well done

I like the look of cross cut blanks but I do not trust them not to crack over time. What is oldest cross cut pen people have and has anyone experienced them crack after time?

Yeah I see your point, but with 20 coates of CA holding it together, the chances cracking would be pretty remote. I certainly wouldn't just put a wax finish on a X-cut.

Totally agree with the wax but 20 coats against mother nature I still would put my money on mother nature but I sure hope I'm wrong as it really show the timber off nicely especially if there is no interesting grain. I guess I need to make one and see how it goes.
I hope these beauty's last a life time for you

42 years worth of short cedar offcuts swept up and burnt. What was I thinking?
