Default had some good days in the workshop

Hi guys this is what I have been able to do when my pain levels have dropped a bit
1st pen is a plywood comfort pen
2nd pen is a click pen in plastic
3rd pen is a cartridge case I got in a last mystery swap and I adapted a click pen with leftover plastic bits glued together
4th pen is a carbatec copy of a JR gent was trying to make this one for my sons wedding
last 2 are a couple of key rings
there might not be many done but at 4 plus hours each due to pain I think I have done real well
    Regards Michael

Some great results. If it takes all day it matters not it is the enjoyment at completing a pen

I sit to turn anyway not cause I have to but choose to. Love your work admire your giving turning a real chance to take your mind off your pain.

On a Woodworking site a couple of months ago A guy said he had not been around for some time with Vicaden and other drugs for 24/7 pain. someone suggested a little black cherry juice. He started on a Thursday morning and by evening with no drugs was pain free. Being in this situation on that day a Thursday I bought Black Cherry juice from a health shop and I have been pain free ever since. Still 82 but able to enjoy life more than ever. I use a little in a glass with Aldis Lemon Mineral water to top it up once a day, taste is good.My pain was arthritus driven. Could not bend down to pick up dropped things now I can easily.

Nice going there Michael, some good looking pens Mate.

4 hours sounds pretty good to me, takes me at least 2 weeks to do a pen these days .

    Default Chair

    IMG_2010.jpg

    Michael
I use a comfy chair which has one of those telescopic posts. Eg goes up on its own pressure with the handles.

I got a few from the last curb side cleanup. Looks a bit fancy but it's comfy and adjustable and the right height for a bench. Also has a foot rest. I stiffened it with a board.

how many hours - don't worry... god knows how long I take. To make it easier so I don't have to get up and down off the chair. I set everything up I need around the lathe. I'll have an hour where all I do is gluing barrels or an hour the next week where I just drill holes or cut to length. I kind of do a slow production line of say 10 pens over a few weeks. ...... might sound tedious but I make fewer mistakes and less pain on the foot. ... I get a good tune on the radio and a good cuppa brewing ....

My chair: sorry I couldn't work out how to rotate .. I don't lay down to sit on it

Hi Michael pic while I was installing my VicMarc Vl150 in 2014. 26" from the floor to centre of the seat.

30" 1/2" floor to top of bench.

    Bench is 28" by 44"

Sitting my eye height is 29" from the seat

I welded the bench frame from steel.

My breastbone sitting is level with the lathe centre height (I am 6 foot 2")

Many other changes since then hope this helps you sure great for me.

    Kind regards Peter.
