Seldom trouble but lately to overcome strange markings etc as you turn down I resurrected a 1/4 inch gouge to settle down until they pass. This helps me, you never know what you will find in a burl. The most reliable for me has been Brown Mallee Burl a huge long time favourite. I just finished a great favourite cross cut Hairy Oak I will ost in the coming week.
