    Default Fancy wood rollerballs

    Hi folks,

Want to show some pens off again! I broke into my stash of fancy blanks last week for a batch of fancy rollerballs, this is the result:

Left to right that's afzelia xylay, thuya burl, dyed and stabilised box elder burl (I feel a bit slack about this because I prefer to use my own blanks if it's something manufactured, but they sure are pretty!), and some blackwood from MAPLEMAN...

Edited to add: all finished with behlen aerosol lacquer. I am reasonably happy with it thus far, easy to apply!

    Cheers,

    Danny

Certainly breaking out the big guns!! And done every one of them justice I might add.

That afzelia xylay is magnificent.... May have to look into it a bit further....

    Thanks for sharing

Gabriel, the afzelia is pretty awesome - pops even more in person than in the photo I think! I believe it's hard to come by these days, I got some blanks from our own Amos while he was selling some of his high end blanks (same as the stabilised BEB).

Fred - L to R they're a rhodium Jr Gent II, a Broadwell Art Deco in rhodium, a black titanium Jr Gent II, and an 'antique pewter' Jr George. The last three from exoticblanks.com, and the first from gary pye - I got a bunch from gary pye but they seem to have stopped stocking and apparently aren't going to re-order - it's a shame, I really like that kit and I think it was good value!

    Cheers,

    Danny

Thanks Danny, like you I am a fan of the Jr Gent II, especially the non-postable version.

Just my personal taste, but not a fan of the Broadwell, nicely made by you but too "blingy" for my taste.

Yeah, I was a bit dubious about the broadwell too, Fred. Just threw some kits into an order because they're quite different and I thought they'd appeal to people who like a bit of bling and flash.

I've actually come around on them and I like them a bit more now! That was my last kit, but I might get a few more if the opportunity comes up.

    Cheers,

    Danny

Some awesome pens there Danny, well done. The Afzelia is my pick, but none of them are shabby.

Its a pity the Jr Gents aren't easier to get hold of, they are a quality kit for a reasonable price, and look good. I would like to see someone stock the chrome version here.

You are the man with these beautiful pens, when more than one are shown I still treat them as singles, one and three left to right as they are are simply outstanding mate.
