    Default Finally back into it

Having been away from home (and the lathe) for some 4 months during Sydney's lockdown, and then, surviving Christmas and New Year decided it was time to get back into some pens. Decided to start slowly and ease back into it by messing around with some Streamlines. These started off based on the inspiration from the magnificent turnings of Penpal who can make the simplest pen kits look classy.

But then I realised I couldn't match him, so went off on a tangent to make some crazy ones with absolutely no class at all! But it was heaps of fun, and the family love trying them all to see which grip they prefer or which are good as conversation starters. Either way, they're grabbing them (maybe to prove the old bloke's lost his marbles?). Anyway, I'm back at the lathe and enjoying every minute.

    Cheers, Gary

obviously nice but also interesting, which styles or shapes are turning out most comfortable/easy to write with?

Depends who I talk to. Number 3 is probably the most popular, but only just. Some like it for the feel, some for the grip, and some just for the way they look. Me?, I just use the boring old standard Cigar pens (probably because I'm a boring old retired bean counter). As one of my clients used to regularly remind me: "What do Accountants use for contraceptives? Their personality!"

They are ugly as hell, but they are good to hold.

Loving Wife has taken up pencil colouring with considerable vigour - each picture can take hours. Its engrossing and she's very good.

APPARENTLY these enthusiasts use these grips: 10/30/50X Children Pencil Holder Pen Writing Aid Grip Posture Correction Tool AU | eBay

Which are the same as some of your pens

That's the main thing - enjoy it. Who cares if they don't find a home, as long as you get the joy of turning them. #4 is my pick btw.

They are great I lean toward the Hairy Oak ones but admire them all for their variation and fun.

Good stuff Gary. Glad to see someone posting their work.
I am hoping to get a chance to turn some pens in the near future (well in the next few months anyway )
I have 6 commissions to get done, and need at least 2 for gifts of appreciation for some special people.
If I get them done, I will follow suit and post some photos.
