Finishing on or off the bushings
I generally finish my blanks, whether it be CA, or eee/shellawax Glo, on the bushings. Then remove and clean up the ends with wet/dry and micromesh.
how many do the same? How many take off and use the white finish bushings? Just curious.
or any other method, outside of dipping, and if dipped, how do you finish the flush?

I turn down almost to the bushings between centres. Then I take the bushings off and apply a little paste wax to the centres and but the blank back. Sand and then apply the CA, remove and draw the ends over some 280 or 320. After that it is buff with the three wheels of a Beall buffing system.

When I do CA finish I put 3-4 layers of paper between the blank and the bushings. I fold the paper into a strip approx 16mm wide and punch a 1/4" hole, then cut square and assemble. When done, it's then snap the CA on the paper joint and clean up with the pen mill.

i use the white bushes regardless of the finish I find the metal bushes leave a noticeable metallic look so my choice is to use a bush on either end and butt the blanks in the middle to sand etc.

I have started keeping the bushings on until I have finished my rough sanding (240) and then swap to my HDPE bushings for final sanding/CA finishing. I noticed (particularly on light timbers, like huon) that even when sanding a hint of the metal was sanding off the bushings and discolouring the blanks. I knew this happened when using EEE or micromesh, but on the light timbers I noticed it even with higher grits of sandpaper.....
Once I get to 320g sandpaper my shape is not going to change do that's is why I change then"All the gear and no idea"
