Fordite Hybrid
Antique bronze Dura click. Components are from Steve's Woodcraft.
The blank I can't remember who it came from but it turned beautifully. Whatever you want to call it Fordite or Detroit Agate it is layers of spray paint overspread from the spray booths. It is a hybrid mix of Fordite and orange resin.20220304_205957_1646392804462.jpg20220304_210041_1646392880254.jpg20220304_210020_1646392932301.jpg

That came out really well. I remember you showing me the blanks; must have been nearly three years ago now?
It’s a good clunky looking kit that seems visually well matched with the industrial history of the blank. About the only things needed to make it even more Ford-y would be an oil leak and a random self-destruct mechanismNothing succeeds like a budgie without a beak.

Looks real good Darren. The Fordite makes for an exiting blank.
I have to try these new kits with the Schmidt clicker, I hear they are pretty good.Brad.

Brad the Anvil and Dura Click both use an 8mm tube. The Anvil is a bit thinner and shorter than the Dura Click and it has a slight taper from the Click end to the nib.
The Dura has a bigger diameter so you have more meat on the finished pen and is same diameter top and bottom. It is slightly longer than the Anvil. The only thing you have to be careful with the Dura click is that it has an extension piece that goes into the Parker refil due to the extra length.
The length is crucial when trimming the blank if you touch the tube a bit to muchyou will end up with a shop pen. I left mine about 1/2 mm longer at either end and had good projection of the tip of the of the refill. I like the Dura click for that little bit of extra weight.
