Fountain pen Ink Pumps
I have built two Jr Gent fountain pens. How do I get the Schmidt ink pumps to work.try as I can I cannot get the pumps to anchor onto the nib units.Am I supposed to glue them in.Any info I can obtain which is pretty scarce suggests that they are supposed to click onto the nib unit but this does not happen.Result is one unholy bloody mess.Maybe it is my last fountain pens. They are on Qld Silky Oak and look terrific but are useless.
Any help greatly appreciated.

the cartrdges are a fairly tight fit as of necessity ,should be installed without ink hehe, so grip well by hand ,push hard and a slight twist to line it up ,you will find it goes in that way ,you will know its seated as will feel firm . try some warm water to clean out your pen of old ink .Good luck with it cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Whatever you do, don't glue them in. I think taht'd pretty much guarantee a useless pen.
As the others have said, push it in straight and carefully and it should go in properly.

A pen press is not necessary per chance do you have the right ink pump there are two sizes as far as I am aware a large and a small. You should be using the small in Jr Gent

I remember my first one as well. Didn't have clue what I was doing and was afraid to break it. I do remember using a fair bit of force. Sort of like pushing a thumb tack into a tough wall, and then it "pops" when it gets through the tough outer layer.
If you look inside the nib section, you should be able to see the connection it pushes onto. Make sure it's centred over the top of that, and it's not possibly bent or something is obstructing it.

Did the Schmidt ink pumps come with the pen kit, or are they a separate buy from a Stationery Shop? always the possibility it is too large for the fitting as Sam remarked. Amos

I have only ever used the pump that comes with the kits and never had a problem.
If you have a spare one from another kit maybe try that as you might have a dogie one.Cheers Rum Pig

Thanks again.I am now sure that I have the wrong ink pumps. They came with the kit but when I push them on to the nib unit they go right home but do not seat onto anything and are still loose. Also the very action of screwing the pen together turns the ink pump and would always end up discharging the pump.I think Sam may be right and I have the large pump instead of the small pump. Thanks Mr Vic for the instructions which I filed for future use.
