    Default Gloat

I am not one to gloat often but Tasha has had hissy fit because I haven't said anything but I am Grand Champion wood turner for the Bundaberg regional show. I made 15 pieces, entered 6 sections and receive 6 firsts, 4 seconds and 4 thirds.

The champion piece was a maple burl that I burnt the rim and textured the outside with a dremel and then painted with copper based paint to achieve a beaten copper look.

The best news was that my two pens I made were runner up to my champion piece so hand crafted pens were second and third runners up to the overall champion piece.

A few of you know of my Tasha and how much she means to me and you also know that she gets up my ribs for not taking photos. well i have taken photos of the pens I have done which I will post in separate threads.

So this will keep no. 1 pushy daughter off my back until photos of other wood turnings lol

Congratulations Darren, that is wonderful news. When you do show the pictures , could we see the other pieces as well as the pens. We often have enough misery around, so your news is a welcome relief, can't fully express the joy I have in my heart at your success, Amos

You cheeky young pup Stirlo hahahaha, you remind me of me at yr age but i am sure I look better in a Fedora. My busted knuckle and cramped fingers remind me of my champion piece. I will drag the camera out and let Tasha take them I think, then i will have peace and quiet.

Rick could you imagine if your daughter and my Tasha got together we would not know what hit us. She says hi to you all.

Wheelin Tasha knows I'm a slack bugger with photos, she will nag at me, she is good at that. I will probably get thumped for that comment lol.

Amos thank you for your kind words they always have meaning to me and yes I will show photos of all my pieces.

Looks like the saying ... behind every successful man is a woman (kicking, screaming and poking him into action in some cases) might be true here!!!!!

    Well done Darren

14 placings! What happened to the 15th? Or did you edge yourself out with a 1st,2nd,3rd?

    Congrats again.
