Hi penpal. Looks great. Birds eye Huon. While I know that Huon pine can live well over 2000 years, I'm curious as to how you actually know the age from an off cut. Were you involved in the milling?

I'm really interested in how one would get hold of something like that. To know it was around when Tassie tigers and other extinct animals were would be really special. It may have even been urinated on by one as well. Very special.

I am always struck by the way you use simple but elegant designs to show whatever wood you use to best effect, Peter.

This is but another perfect example of your talent. .... and I am so envious!!!

Exceptional work. I too would love to get my mitts on some decently figured birds eye huon pine for pens but it appears as we know, to be very scare.
