Its been a while
Been a while since I have posted but have been busy with a special turning job, but here is some of my latest stuff. First 3 photos are of Ocean Mist Acryester from Ryan at Woodturningz matched to a round top Black Ti Streamline from Addictive pens and the next 3 photos will be of Pink Sky on the same kit. Comments and Critique always welcome.

Hi Darren, Very Nice indeed. I won't say my favourite but you know me enough to know my favourite...LOL. I only have one really comment that is bothering me but I think it more the kit than your work. When you look at the centre band on all the pens both the pink and blue. It appears higher than the pen. It kind of to me looks like the pen has been over turned. but beside that point which may be the kit. I am unsure I have never ever made that kit. But as for all the other fitting looks fabulous fit. Finish looks just spot on overall you should be happy with your effort.
This is only my opinion
bye Toni

Toni i thought that when I first did the kit, i thought the bushes were undersized but when you look at it carefully the bushes are done so the square shoulders sit flush against the flat portion of the centre band and the beading is proud. If you turn the barrels flush then there is a high should and and it looks like ?????. Brett might chip in about the design, for he would be the only one to go to for technical support for Berea products here in Australia

HI Darren, Thanks for that. I would like to hear from Brett to see his opinion. Darren this is just an idea and ultimately it your pen but you know a slight wasp..Go on shudder... I know you want too..LOL but would that suit the pen bit better than straight taper?? Just some food for thought.
but I say it again this is not a knock of your work at all. I think you do a top job I always looking at your pens but this centre band. I been going to say it earlier but did not. but it bugged me so I spoke up.
good night

Darren & Toni,
You guys are right on the money that is how the kit is designed with the centre band a little proud of the barrells, personally I don't like it that much with the centre band being proud. The Streamline is one of my better sellers when made and I don't actually turn the centre down to the diameter of the bush I leave it proud by about 2 or 3mm and round off the edges with some 0000 steel wool, it is just my personal preference but I believe the pen has a much better look with the centre band flush with both the top and bottom barrels. I have attached a pic of one of mine so you can see what I mean.

That's my complaint against that kit, too.
I reckon it looks better with the barrels flush with the highpoints of the band, but that leaves "exposed squared edges" on the pen which, in my experience, are where acrylic will chip if dropped.
I'd have been happier if the centre-band had a half-bead on each end, but...

I agree with you skew that is why I round them over slightly to take the square edge off it really finishes the centre off very well, you probably need to see one in the flesh to really appreciate how much better it makes them look.

I agree with you too guys, have done them both ways and prefer them flush as well.
Would be good if you can get a choice of bushings to go both ways or even if the bush set came with 2 middle bushes.
Might do some measuring and see if any of the other bush sets has one that is the right sizeCheers

Toni don't ever be affraid of commenting or critiques on my work this is what it is about too many times there is a nice pen comment and it is obviously not. You posted comments in the way it is intended and with reasoning behind what was said. you even used humor, a wasp waist, you funny girl
Brett didn't think of roundinng the edge I have a chrome kit left will give it a go will look better than the square shoulder. Thanks for that.
Terry, yeah I know Jim sells these, but these came direct from Ryan from a bulk buy on TPS and got them for around $3 each got 50 blanks in assorted colours
Sam the kit is available through Brett at Addictive Pens and for technical advice he is the man to see when it comes to Berea kits
To all others that have commented many thanks
Darren
