A little bit of free time
well i am not sure about everyone else but i thought things were meant to be hectic before Xmas, i haven't stopped and unfortunately its not been in the shed making bits.
i cast these 2 about 4 weeks ago, might be longer
A couple more Mecha blanks
the first one surprised me the center part shows RED/GOLD, should be Red paint and Aluminum, some sort of reaction between the paint and resin i am guessing, needless to say i am going to have to try again and see if it happen again
the second is aluminum, black paint rub section and red wire
sorry about the finger prints, i didn't notice them until now
C&C welcome

Great job on those two Mik, I like the red one best, wonder what the red would look like with copper?

Mik , I think you spend far too much time watching TV seeing as you said you punch the holes while watching lol. I saw some of these recently at Tony's and they are even better in the flesh as you said a long way yet to explore down this path , one with watchparts on metal, went to the same guy whos getting the tennis racket I just finished So good Ideas do get circulated around hehe, (just don't have the bits on your bedside table ,that might be carrying multi-tasking a bit too far ) Cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

thanks for the feedback guys, i appreciate it
i will try it just for you mate, i do think the copper will get lost, but if you don't try you will NEVER know
thanks John, you are the master of carbon fiber, i have tried a few times and failed miserably, i would like to see one done with a small amount of CF in the middle, watch parts on this and aluminum on either end, maybe even some colored wire as well, i reckon that would be the bees knees
come on John you can do it, i have faith

Mik, nothing like a photo to show fingerprints and imperfections, BUT, you did that deliberately just to show it was you who made them! and fine work once again. Amos

Thanks Ian, i am still exploring this area, and having a bit of fun to boot
thanks Amos, the fingerprints were going to be a perception test for everyone, but i thought i would do something that i NEVER do around SWMBO, admit i made a mistake
OK John i am sure you can live up to ours and your customers expectations
well heres a start on attempt number 5??? i think, its looking good at this stage but so did the other 4 attempts, i only have another 45,000 gears to bend and place, OK so its about 12 but they are hard to bend and it seems like 45,000
i am going to try casting under pressure this time though which i am hoping will get rid of the pesky BUBBLES

Mik before you cast it see if you can get a size off it that will be the minimum you can turn to without hitting any bits ,not sure what kit you have set it up for ,but something like that I would be looking at a sierra vista, which uses standard sierra tubes ,but but is a lot thicker in the finished body, a handy test is a drill gauge plate to see what hole it will fit in without touching , it looks a very busy pen hehe , If you are having trouble bending gears contact me for some of my methods Cheers ~ John
