I love this mallee burl!
Turns well, finishes well, and looks like a million bucks. Here's a Majestic rollerball kit in black titanium. CA finish. Finally got a can of accellerator. It makes a huge difference. You barely have to polish the CA when using the accellerant.

Now I have to say, that's the most beautiful pen I have ever seen.... I'd have one of those to grace my Wooton Patent Secretary any day! Stunning!

Looks real nice - I'll have to try one.

Thank you all for the kind comments. The photographs really do not do this timber justice. The timber is courtesy of Froggie and I am now down to my last brown mallee burl. I must see if I can get this stuff in the States. The combination of the burl and a good CA finish is very complimentary to one another.

Cisco,
Excellent job on the pen. I have to agree with you about the mallee, one of the most consistently beautiful woods out there.

Hi mate I reckon Mallee Burl is like the Princess you have to sort through a lot of burl to find the exquisite ones, just when I thought I had seen the best last Saturday I found better ones. I can buy a large number of amazing Broadleafed Mallee sticks that are the best I have seen, they have black in the swirls and birds eyes in fact I have to travel for them but will buy an other batch before the weekend they are 3/4 inch square by 5 inches long. The Princess by the way has to kiss a thousand frogs to find the Handsome Prince.Freight over the ocean I do not know but will find out.Its dearer than from the USA to here.they weigh about 59 grams each.
May also get a batch of Mallee (Red) these will be surplus to my needs also.PM from you and others over there. I have the privilige of sort before I buy.
Regards to all Peter.
PS my recent remarks about Cocobolo having a great variety also applies with Red Mallee.
My living in America daughter will be returning from her visit with us now later in this month to Utah where she lives.
