Majestic Fiddleback Maple Xcut
I think this should be called "frustration" the turning went ok, sharp tools and carefully. BUT- the finishing-which is CA , was a heart breaker, had to redo the bottom portion because of crack in CA as I pulled off the bushing. Finally it came together, I left 1/2 the black insert off and lubricated it with BLO before putting together- a lesson from the last one. Meanwhile back to the pen, I like the chatoyance on this one(the variation of light when viewed from different angles) something that can't usually be appreciated except in presence., hope you enjoy. Amos

Lovely workmanship and materials combine for another work of art. In light of your problem with CA ,is it time to fire up the metal lathe and produce some delryn or cutting board conical bushes for finishing ? Cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Gorgeous pen Amos!!
The Majestic is, to me, the pick of the higher end kits. It more understated than the Emperor and that seems to help it match up with many more types of blanks.

Hard work paid off again Amos well done
I have had the same trouble with CA but found that a Stanley knife blade used as a parting tool really helps just part between bush and blank before you remove the blanks from your lathe. 1 tip use sharp bladesCheers Rum Pig

Very nice, when I graduate from the cheapie inserts, I will be happy with half as good a job.
How long do you leave between the coats of CA glue,

Clarky-as little time as possible, with a thin coat, I give a burst of Accelerator and almost immediately proced to next coat, with medium and thick CA, I give a burst or two of accelerator, then wait 20 to 60 seconds and check and if hard enough go to next layer, some people smooth with 0000 steel wool between layers, I usually wait until a goodly build up is there then use fine wet sandpaper and acrylic sanding pads(wet). I have been told that it is better to wait 24hrs after last coat then start the final sanding and buffing etc, however usually time is not on my side, did try it once, seemed to come ok but not enough to change my routine.
Thanks for the comments, appreciated, AmosGood, better, best, never let it rest;

Amos, you are truly a master pen crafter. The pen blank is absolutely amazing, the colour and the reflective quality as you move it through the light. The blank compliments the kit chosen and the quality of finish is excellent. As with the CA finish, if it ain't broke then keep doing what you are doing. Well done my friend.

Extremely nice pen, Amos. I congratulate you. Is that maple dyed? It isn't usually so dark.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.
