MECHA - Bolt Action Mk2
well i know i said Sunday night, but i couldn't wait to turn this sucker
pulled it out of the mold, into the toaster oven for 3 minutes and all good ready to turn
this one has Black wire and some crinkle and all the rest that says a MECHA blank
not sure on the black wire, it just looks like a black stripe, but it does blend in well with the rest of the blank
very interested in everyones thoughts
C&C good and bad please
thanks for looking

Mik, very unique pen, I must have missed some posts---what is the actual background to the blank, is it metal cast in clear resin? Amos

hi ya Amos
yes it is Aluminum Tape cast in clear resin, if you go back through my recent posts you will find lots more designs, i have been making these flat out for the last 4-6 weeks, great fun
original thought process came from Acme Rocket Zen, then i just adapted my own spin on things
Thanks for your thoughts

I really am taking to these relatively new metal tape / steampunkish / boiler plate style pens, but please can you excuse my ignorance and tell me what the Mecha reference means?
Cheers

hi ya Skiprat, thanks for your feedback mate
i personally don't believe that these are really steampunk, the one by Si90 on the IAP shown at the bottom of the page is in my opinion Steampunk
i played Mech warrior for a number of years and i think that these look a lot like the amour plated outside of a battle scared battle Mech, wikipedia has Mecha
but hey i am happy to go with another name
Boiler Plate
Amour Plated
but sorry i can't come at Steampunk, this Bolt Action would have to be the closest but only because of the component set that has been used
i am open to feedback on a new name
thanks again

Mik, I agree. Simon's pens are perfect examples of true Steampunk and I really love them.
I've seen reference to the metal tape pens also being as steampunk but didn't know where you stood with them.
I still like them though !!
Thanks for the clarification on the Mecha thing. Being an old(ish) fart like me, I kinda missed the computer game bug. The last computer game I played was either PacMan or that old tennis game!!
Cheers

mate i love looking at Simons pens, i could never use one but they are definitely a collectors work of art, more than worthy of a crystal display case
we have a shed full of those old amusement machine games, sit downs, uprights, pinballs, my wifes family ran amusement machines, unfortunately the computer revolution sort of wiped the floor with the arcades
according to my kids i am in the ancient part of life, my reply to them is - 'At least i made it'
this metal tape genre of pens has caught hold of my imagination and drawn me back into the game
thanks for your thoughts
all the best
