Mechanical pencil kits
Hi all, after a lot of turning pens, I've had a request for some mechanical pencils but struggling to find kits.
Does anyone know if and where they're available in Australia?I cut it twice and it's still to short.

I have tried two types from Timberbits (Timberbits.com) in Sydney. One type fits in the standard slimline kit I think. I would steer well away from these (told so by Timberbits and backed up by own experience). They work but break easily. The second type replaces a Parker refill. These seem to work quite well but the action of advancing and retracting the lead is not that intuitive. It relies on the normal twist that would advance and retract the pen. But twisting one way unlocks and advances the lead, while twisting the other way locks the lead in place (while appearing to do nothing).
I found the Owner at Timberbits very helpful if you can get to talk to him (name escapes me for the moment). He is a keen woodworker and turner himself and I think he was striving for a workable pencil kit. I have an idea he is a subscriber here, so if he is lurking in the background he may chime in with his knowledge.
just looking at the site and not sure the Parker style kit is available any more.

Thankyou. The ones from Timberbits are what I'm after.
