Mulga
Hi all it’s been some time since I posted.
I have a job for someone at work is make some mulga pens. Just wondering if anyone has worked with Mulga. Knowing it’s hard im guessing it will likely finish well.

Yep nice timber, unfortunately the borers also like it, including both sapwood and heartwood

An excellent wood for turning... fine dense & occasionally figured. But mulga can also be applied loosely although usually to Acacia aneura.
So be mindful there are a few species of “mulga”. Eg horse mulga, red mulga, black mulga, hop mulga, fine leaf mulga are a few that come to mind .... all sl different in their wood & all interesting. I recently supplied some to a pen turner here. I will await to see the result )
