Good Better Best -Origin(for me)
As a youngster on the farm we had one of these, and those words always stuck. Amos
Good, better, best, never let it rest;
Til your good is better, and your
better, best.

I think I posted about this early in the period when I fisrt saw your work Amos.
The other interesting thing is that it is also written on the tank in Pitman Shorthand. Now that confuses a lot of people!!

If I remember my WW1 history correctly, the Furphy water carts were used to water the men in the front lines. The term a furphy comes from the drivers of those tanks who were always spreading inaccurate information amongst the troups....hence the term a furphy, or a mistruth / exageration.
Thanks for the post, I love old equipment such as that.
Regards,
Anthony

It's funny how some things stick in your mind for years after and you never forget.
Reality is no background music.

As a current farmer (amongst other things), I appreciate this post. Thank you, Amos.

As a kid these water carts were everywhere and I too appreciate them and join with you saluting the design and words, they are uplifting and true. Much like yourself.
Kind regards Peter.

The place I saw these was "The Beer Shed" at Echuca, Victoria(Aust). The man has over 17,000 cans of beer along with much other old time memorabilia, I am basically a Tee Totaller, but it was interesting seeing the progression of the beer can. Amos
