Default NOT PC flowers and butterfly

well i have done PC flowers and butterflies

i found all (well most i think) of my leather stamps so i had a bit of a play punching designs into the aluminum tape and this is the first in the floral range, maybe the only

i was never any good at the leather punching designs, i am pretty sure this is the best i ever did and its not even on leather

in the hand it has a 3D effect which doesn't show too well in the pickies

i painted the indents created by the punches with some nail polish and some model paint

it was a fantastic experiment and i had a blast

    C&C welcome

    thanks for looking

    MIK

Thanks mate,,, there are a couple of big girls that saw the pre-cast tube, who have taken dibs on the finished pen,, now they just have to put their money where their mouth is

hey john with the exception of the doggy doo doo cast pen, i reckon i have made 9 of the top 10 worst ever pens, they all be gone to new homes
i wasn't meaning to be critical of this pen just previous leather work punchings that failed miserably, guess what, the people still loved them too
we are all super critical of our selves and the workmanship that we do, we see the little mistakes because we know what to look for

thanks for you thoughts though mate

I think the effect is cool. Looks like it's been enamel baked. I'm sure many people are going to be trying the same.

Sorry to be the sad sack Mik but for me the blend of flowers and aluminium patching just doesn't sit right. Just my oplnion of course but if the flowers were stamped on a flat piece of aluminium then wrapped and cast you might be onto something. The idea of stamping and painting as you have done has heaps of potential and certainly worth experimenting with. Keep up the "outside of the square thinking" though as I always look forward to seeing what you are up to next.

i appreciate the honesty and i also was a bit concerned about the different looks between the flowers and the plates but it does grow on you and the look of all these pens is soooo much different in the hand compared to pickies, thanks for the feedback mate i appreciate it, the mind is still ticking over although maybe a bit slower than to start with

there is lots of different stamps, the biggest problem is the size when you start wrapping the punchings around a tube they loose a lot of definition

Tandy Leather Company is the leader in the world in leather work tools

the photo below shows the only tools i used to make the flower picture, sorry bad pickie, the 5 cent piece is a reference for size, the black one is the back of a paint brush

i also used a mallet for the banging bit

when it comes to leather work there are a few basic stamps which used in the correct way allows you to make many marvelous designs... not me though i have not been able to wrap my noggin around the designs, like i said above this is the best picture i have made and it wasn't even on leather

    i hope this helps mate

    Mik,

Seeing that 5 cent coin gives me ideas as well could you use coins as stamps with the foil tape too

    Cheers
    Tony.

    MIK,

I have none of the above reasons not to like and admire your pen together with the previous ones I regard them as masterpieces appreciating them for themselves original genius ok some stuff was started using foil and rivet patterns but you went into overdrive then introduced colour as well.

Grateful to you for your sharing and showing us a rare pleasure mate.

    Kind regards Peter.

hi ya tony, the answer is yes with 1 small problem and 1 large problem

    1. the indent is a mirror image - because you are pressing from the top, now don't rush i tried from the bottom as well and it didn't work, i even tried the rubbing thing and that didn't work either

    2. SWMBO gets grumpy when banging mallets on the desk top while she is trying to sleep,,,, not a good choice,,, thanks mate for THAT!!!!

the next pickie shows another couple of tools i use for holding the tube while pressing the rivet holes and painting, and the awl type tool i made to make the rivet marks

i made the journal as well, i call it my book of secrets
