First pen for April
I have made my first pen for April. It isn't the magical unicorn, cocobolo burl though. This pen is special for many other reasons. This is a shedded cast from the snakeman Ian Allen which is special in itself, but this pen is special for another reason. I received this blank when I swapped it with Tony Marron who was a great loss to the pen turning community over a year ago. This is why I chose th I as my first pen of my private stash.20190407_145212_1554613183276.jpeg20190407_145331_1554613108943.jpeg

SECOND PEN FOR APRIL
Ok, Gab, keeping your challenge going here is my second pen using blanks from the storage shed, but the blank is (again) from Ironwood's shed - not mine. This is a Sierra kit using his Pascoe Grevillea blank - the timber was found on the road near the Pascoe River near Cape York, so has travelled from there to near Mackay to its new home in Sydney. Thanks, Brad.

Good stuff Darren. Tony's passing was a shock, so I can imagine how much that blank/pen means to you. Thanks for posting it.
I still have a couple of pens I made with Ians snake skin blanks, I gifted a Sierra with one of Ians blanks, to a work colleague just recently who is a reptile lover, he loved that pen.
Looking good Gary. But we have to change that timbers name to "Pascoe She-Oak" after the discussion we had just recently. Euge and IanW proved it not to be a Grevillea after all.Brad.

Sorry Bdar, I wasn't trying to hone in on your post - stupid here thought he was posting to the April Challenge thread . And thanks, Brad, I will change the name to Pascoe She-Oak (as well as correct, it's also easier to spell!).
Cheers, Gary

Gary all good brother. The Pascoe she oak is a nice timber. I was at the local guild the other week and they were going to throw out 2 she oak hearts that had pipe running through the middle. Was told no one wanted it. With a bit of selective cutting I got a bit out of it, 14 boards all up.20190323_093402_1553311288896.jpeg20190323_093542_1553311403480.jpeg20190323_093750_1553311674126.jpeg20190323_093904_1553311917505.jpeg20190323_093608_1553311469228.jpeg
