    Default New Pen Display

    Hey There,

Further to Texx's post on Pen Display, I said that I needed a Lockable display case for an prospective sales outlet, I contacted my mate the Plastic Guy, and sort of said what I needed and my Mate and his Son come up with a proto type, It was clear and not very good to look at, you couldn't define any pens and everthing was lost in the background, # 2 proto type is pictured and we have already refined a few aspects and will have # 3 out next week. This one displays 10 (ten) pens and is only accessible from the rear. Refinements will be, rounded corners instead of chamfered, and rounded ends of the top of the sides and bottom of legs/feet. We have also decided that the latch plate needs to be White. At this stage the measurements are (Roughly) 360 wide x 250 deep and 250 high, the tray is about 50mm deep.
I am going to put an infill in the bottom that will have my name and contact details, # 3 might also have provision for Business cards

I think that this will work for a galley or retail outlet, where you have consignment stock, but I will be making something similar to Texx's for markets and displays (if I go there)

Well done, looks great. Its a pity the latch can't be "hidden" somehow as it detracts from the overall design of the display. Nevertheless, a nice piece of work.

G,day just butting in a bit here , i had a thought if you are going to make some cases along the lines of the one i made and you are going to use them for transporting here and there, grab some foam rubber from some where the right thickness to be a nice snug fit when the lid is shut to stop the pens bouncing all over the show while in transit ,

    Hey Texx,

Not a bad Idea, i have a few of the Pen Cases from David at timber bits, they have a little laccy band that holds them in place (Sometimes) I was trying to think of a way of stopping them trying to breed, when I am taking them to show people. A piece of 6 or 8 mm low density foam would be just the shot.

Getting back to my Proto Type # 3 I was going to see if the Space at the bottom could be smaller and we have an arrangement at the top that held a Header/ Label detailing the Maker etc. that covered the latch jigger, I will see my Man early next week and get some thoughts, he says that if I can draw it he can make it, (He's a brave man)

Just talked to my Man and have suggested that we put a Business card holder above the Latch to cover it, will do some trials and post the results, in the next couple of days. Am also going to paint the latch and see if that helps.
