    Default pen engraving

Just wondering if anyone does pen engraving or etching on a regular basis and what sort of mechanical devices you use. I have been chemically etching 16mm Al tube and wish to change to another method. CNC milling, laser etching, electro etching are all possibilities. It would be useful to see what others are doing along similar lines, what works and how much the set-up might be.

If it is only pens and small things (bottle stoppers, rings etc), you could do a lot worse than the inexpensive Neje DK-BL 1500mw laser engraver from Gearbest. That only engraves 42mm x 42mm flat surfaces BUT Bob Pace in Australia has developed a rotating jig so you can engrave pens. Have a look at his YouTube video at !!! FREE TO MAKE - Neje Laser 360 Rotary jig, for use with all Neje Style Chinese laser engravers. - YouTube I bought my engraver and the jig from Bob just before Christmas and I have been REALLY impressed with the results - so much so that I now want to engrave bigger things but this will still be my 'place to go' for engraving pens.
    Hope it helps

    Thanks Paul,
that rotary invention is a beauty! Unfortunately that particular laser is not suitable for ally, but it has opened a new area for investigation. I'll be looking at cheap printers in a whole new light. Do you have a contact for Bob Pace?

    Default Bob Pace

Bob is on [email protected] I found it great that the jig is made of mdf and an elastic band - and it works a treat. He is a very clever chap.

    regards
