Four places that sell lathes in New Zealand that come to mind are:
    Machinery House
    Timberly Woodturning
    Carbatec New Zealand
    Woodworking HQ

As Dai Sensei said, the local wood turners club is worth contacting as well. The National Association of Wood Workers web site, NAW.org.nz, has a list of clubs and contacts.

Another place to look is trade Me, the kiwi version of Ebay.

Best place for a good quality lathe for pen turning would be Carbatec - NZ. Better priced than most places and the service is very good.

I have one of these ( The Toolshed Version - see if they will price match Carbatec's if you have a Toolshed in your town ) and its been a very good purchase. Well made no faults, centers aligned straight of the box.
