    Default Not a Pen but a use for the offcuts

    I have turned a number of pens recently and was left with a pile of offcuts from the blanks, usually around an inch long. Was trying to think of something to do with them, then it came to me.

    If a drill a 7mm hole in them, make them round and curve the ends, you have a bead. About them young Mrs 10 Year old wandered into the shed asking can I help.

    so taking the following ingreedients

    1 !0 year old Girl
    1 container of off cuts
    1 skew chisel
    1 afternoon
    1 pile of safety gear

    The result was
    1 happy girl
    1 proud daddy
    and this

    Great idea. Did you turn them on a pen mandrel after drilling the hole, or is the hole too small for that?

    I used a 7mm drill, so it went straight onto the pen mandrel
    I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

    And y'know the silly thing? I could probably earn more by selling those bracelets at a Market Stall than I could selling pens?


    (Probably 'cos I get on better with 10yo kids than I do with their parents. )
