Default Another new pen for me - Roman Harvest in West Australian Lace She Oak

I got a small Board of West Australian Lace She Oak, from FenceFurniture, at the last GTG. I got 4 pen blanks out of the board and thought that I was due for a new pen . . .

I like the size and weight of the Roman Harvest pens from Timberbits, so I dressed it in the WA Lace She Oak. I think it worked

The boring details Sanded from 120# (1 small pia patch on the body) thru to 12000# MM, EEE and 10 coats of Aussie Oil.

Quite partial to the Roman Harvest myself. Only problem is they have all the bling that the ladies like but are too big for them to handle comfortably.
Does the Aussie Oil hold its shine after being handled?

Hello Dallas, the Aussie does mute the shine after a while, but it allows the timber figure to shine and does not feel like plastic, as with ca.

Timberbits does have "Blingless Harvest" kits.

Also, the ca fumes, gives me a filthy headache, when I use it as a finish, so I avoid using it in that application.

Hi Pat, what differences do you see when using aussie oil over say shellawax or shellawax glo?

Pat, was the aussie oil rubbed on or done as a friction polish?

Apologies for the late reply. My application for Aussie oil is as follows. Sand/polish the timber to Micro Mesh 12000#. Being careful not to get metal dust from the bushings does not get on the blank. EEE to all the colour is gone, then 10 individual coats applied with the lathe stationary, burnished in at speed.
