I now have to wipe down the drool off my keyboard - amazing bunch of blanks there!
They will certainly keep you busy for a while. Thanks for sharing

Peter, does your shed have an alarm system and when did you say you were going on holidays? That is definitely what I would call a "flash stash"!

The purpose of me saying at the ripe old age of 84 yrs retrieving a few blanks and showing them is to stimulate both discussion and activity, get your old blanks out and use them for goodness sake.
FRom my long held experiences of people /animals whenever we bring competition into an argument we tend to exclude the more timid or shy members. I happen to love timber so I showed a few timber blanks. If you love plastic, hate other media show them,I like them as well.
What a wonderful venue for penturners in the envelope of the U Beaut organisation.
Brad AKA Ironwood responded by producing some masterpieces hence my opening remark on the first post I hear you Brad, its never meant to be up to a few to do,have fun I do.
Kind regards Peter.Nil Desperandum

Some juicy blanks in that lot Peter, I am sure you will make an awesome pen with each one.
I am guilty of hoarding too many good blanks, I have used a few of them lately though.Brad.

Ah, now I understand the meaning behind this thread I think I shall add my thoughts and (hopefully promise) to continue discussion and more importantly remind everyone that you need contributers to pick up where others have left off to keep this forum the brilliant resource that it is.
I too am very guilty of the 'ill save this one til' when it comes to blanks. And because of this I actually started going through the wall if timber today. I'm being quite ruthless as I have been storing the stuff since I first bought a lathe (2008) and was saving every twig I could get my hands on. This has lead to major congestion in my suburban shed. Time to clean out.
This thread has also made me think - I certainly acquire more 'keeper' blanks per year than I use - this means that inevitably I'll never use them up. And heeding Peter's advice/warning (though at 38 I still have a few extra seasons in me, if I'm lucky) I think I'm going to make April my "month of beautiful pens". I plan to make at least 3 (not many, but time restraints and wanting to do the blanks justice) pens out of amazing blanks.
Heck, if people want to jump on board and think it's a great idea, maybe we should start up a personal challenge thread?
Anyways, I don't want to hijack the thread anymore than I already have, but thankyou Peter for bringing this to our attention and letting us learn from your experience.
I'll get my thinking hat on
Cheers

The enabler is my supportive wife, she is a great Craftswoman,in the 60,s she was heavily into Quilting etc and I used to drive 200 miles to buy a large roll of batting. I vowed after a friend cheated her on a 3900 piece Quilt I would buy all she required as long as I was around so she need not sell any more. My forays into timber have been continuous since the 80,s. I rarely sell pens and in 23 yrs of being aged pensioners to live within our means I have concentrated on Slimlines at first then Slimlines with Streamline Centre Bands. Our family wife and me ,our children, their children and in August we will have a GG Grandchild plus the 50 combined G Children and GG Children.I figure life has been kind to me.
