    Smile A quick knot

Hey all, I was stuffing around in the shed last night and thought it's been a while since I did a knot pen so I made up this blank. Turned and finished today. I'm pretty sure the main body is Olive from the smell, veneers are Tas Blackwood and black cardboard finished with CA

    Enjoy,

It did come out nice but I think it would have been even better if it had both an inner and outer layer of black veneer. Thanks for showing.

I thought about that at the start as well, but I like the effect it has given.
    It looks like a shadow.

That was actually my original intent but another piece of black cardboard wouldn't fit in the kerf. Might have to try finding some thinner card if I decide to play again.

    Hey Corbs,

Great job, what angles did you use to get the effect, I like it

    Looks great from here Corbs!
I like the look of the contrasting Tas Blackwood and black cardboard.
I like the effect of using the veneers on the inside only.
    Fit and finish look great.
I see you like to turn B2B.
    Well done.

    Thanks again guys

Hazza, I did two cuts at 45 degrees on opposite faces and the other two cuts were at about 60 degrees but they weren't that scientific. I just used a couple of stop blocks in my mitre saw to set the rough angle, clamped them down and cut. I use a mitre saw like the one pictured and although it's probably obvious to most of you, I found it easier to cut with the blade set on a push cut. I had it on a pull cut without realising for a while

Les, yes I'm a bush to bush man. I don't mind some curve in the blanks sometimes but find it works best if you can continue the flow from the nib which isn't that easy with the Sierra's as they flatten out just before the decorative band.

    Classy pen Corbs!

Is that a Nobex or a Chinese copy?

I wish I could have afforded a Nobex when I purchased it. It's not a really cheap one but still a copy
