Red White & Blue Custom Fountain Pen
Its been a while since I posted anything, so I thought I better prove I do still make things .
This is a blank I got in a swap from a few years back.
It has a #6 JoWo fine nib fitted at the moment. The threads for the cap are 14mm double start, the section is 12/13mm diameter, and has a 10mm thread into the pen body. The pen is 140mm long overall.
I don't have any more of this material, so the cap will be made from something different. Plenty of options, maybe some black Ebonite, or a nice piece of timber, or even Aluminium.
Inspiration will come when its time.

i like the complexity in the blank. Personally though, I'd struggle to find a material for the cap - as you say, an alu one might work, but the only real thing I could come up with was a solid colour matching one of the ones in the pen, and probably the blue... illusion of a flag?

Cheers Gab, glad you like it mate.
Thanks Peter. This ones taken a while, but I enjoyed every minute of it.
My initial thoughts were the same, one of the 3 colours. But matching the red or the blue would be near on impossible, the white seems the most doable. When I go down to the shed after another coffee, I’ll see if any of my white blanks match.
The 4th element of the blank is the clear resin that binds the chips together, a clear cap is another possibility.Brad.

Looking good mate. You could also try one of those Kallenshaan laser inlay kits of the USA/Aussie flag (whatever client is after) as a cap

I found a rod of similar whiteness in a drawer, so I have gone with that. Turned down to 16mm, which is as thin as I dare go with the 14mm thread.
The cap still needs to be sanded and polished, this is straight off the tool.
The section needs a polish as well, I had to take 1/2mm off the nib-end diameter as it was rubbing inside the cap.
I am going to try a new style of clip, if that doesn't work, it will get one the same as my previous pens. But that will have to wait at least a week now, work beckons.
