Ok,

I gave it a go.
Did my first castings, Solid as it was my first.
Had 1/3 clear poured in then 1/3 clear with red glitter and one 1/3 yellow tint at the same time.
Didn't get as much swirling as I would have liked.

Glitter all sunk to the bottom and basically got cut off to square the rod.

I painted the inside with a green. Its the second blank from left in the casting picture.
What glitter did stay gave me troubles as well. This pen is not perfect as when I hit glitter it tore out with a bit of resin.

Anyway I can keep this one myself seeing its the first casting I did.

I'd hope for a C+ on this one.

Peter

Amazing what reverse painting will do. They are great colours.

I doubt you are going to ge tthe glitter to suspend. It is really heavy compared to the resins. wait on your resin to gel a bit more then pour the colors in it. Its a great start on it. It took me a few tries to get it right.

Thanks Phil, Just wondering if CA all over the tube and then roll in different colour glitters may be worth a try. I'll have to try it. Not sure if it will be ok going down the tube, think I'll need to get a proper mould and cast over the glittered tube. Peter

you can run a line of ca around the tube sprinkle with glitter. run another line sprinke different color. and repeat till covered. let set for 24-48 hours for CA to dry and gas off. cast clear resin around the tube and turn. should have a wicked look.

Next one from the castings above.
The first one with the gum nuts in it and red inside.
Its a bit thick as I was getting to far into the nuts and I can't CA finish properly so I left if fatter and resin over most of it.
If someone in melbourne wants to show me how to do a CA finish, give me a PM.

I give this one a D+

Gee you mark yourself very hard. Rekon at least a B. Remember you will get better as time goes by. Just one more thing if I may. At least you are trying. More than I have done.
